Principal Function: The Associate Pastor of Worship is responsible to the Senior Pastor primarily for planning, coordinating, directing and evaluating the worship ministry of the church, with the goal that it would be a disciple-making ministry. Assistance in other ministry areas will also be needed. This is a full-time, exempt position. Responsibilities: Invest in and disciple worship team members so that they would grow in their walk with Christ, and further engage in the mission of Christ. Prepare and lead music for Sunday morning worship service and other special services (Christmas Eve, weddings, funerals, revivals, etc.). This would include working with the lead pastor to choose songs and plan the entirety of the service together. Work with the sound and media team to prepare A/V, offering guidance on any necessary equipment upgrades that might be needed. Preparing equipment and software throughout the week will be necessary. Lead rehearsals before worship service on Sunday morning and one other day of the week that works best for the team (most likely Wednesdays). Schedule team members each week and prepare necessary sheet music, chord charts, etc. Recruit new volunteers, provide musical training when necessary, and ultimately develop new disciple-making leaders. Provide support for at least one other ministry area in the life of our church, including but not limited to offering assistance in planning, organizing, and investing in members. The ministry areas the candidate will support will most likely be student ministry or senior adult ministry, but candidate’s experience and giftings will be considered. General Staff Responsibilities: Live out the characteristics of a disciple-making leader at Lakeside: Experience Christ, Engage God’s Family, Equip New Leaders, and Expand the Kingdom. Affirm Lakeside’s Statement of Faith and Covenant Participate in the staff visitation to prospective members, potential leaders, hospital and crisis visitation. Participate in staff meetings at a time agreed upon by all staff members. Prepare the annual budget for needs of the worship and student ministries, and administer the approved budget according to policy. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor. Lakeside also has funds available to support continuing education.
